# The State of AI for 2027: From Generating Content to Designing Intelligent Experiences > An interactive editorial story by Prince Pal (UI/UX designer), based on Vitaly Friedman's presentation "The State of AI for 2027" (Maven, 15 October 2026). Statistics are reported results cited in the talk, some recovered from slide images by OCR; interactive scenarios on the page are illustrative. Main page: https://www.example.com/state-of-ai-2027/ ## Key points - AI is out of the pilot stage: 99% of product teams have integrated AI into at least one workflow (State of Product report, Atlassian, as cited in the talk). - 80% of teams ship faster, but customers aren't benefiting any sooner; 69% say AI hasn't sped up decision-making; 77% say executive gut instinct regularly overrides data. - AI workslop: low-effort AI work that masquerades as good work but lacks substance (Kate Niederhoffer, HBR). 82% say teammates regularly produce it. - AI-ready design systems treat decisions as infrastructure: spec files, a closed token set, audit scripts and sync routines prevent design drift. - Trust: "do not trust AI at all" rose 9 points to 36% among US adults (Aug 2025 to May 2026, as shown in the talk). Trust forms through controllability — validating, shaping and overriding output. - AI harness: context engineering, tool registry, deterministic guardrails, agent loops, verification and feedback. - AI evals: dataset (50–500 cases per capability), runner, grader; aim for 80–90% human–judge agreement. - Agents: suggest / confirm / execute modes, autonomy set per action; most companies don't need agents — simple automations often suffice. - Central idea: designing AI is always about designing for trust. ## Chapters 1.
